How to Enable Free SSL in cPanel (HTTPS)

Estimated reading: 1 minute

SSL secures your website and enables HTTPS. Many domains can activate SSL from cPanel automatically.

Step 1: Confirm domain is pointing correctly

SSL won’t issue if the domain doesn’t resolve to your server. Make sure DNS is correct first.

Step 2: Open SSL tools

In cPanel, open SSL/TLS Status (or similar).

Step 3: Run AutoSSL

Select your domain(s) and run AutoSSL. Wait for the process to complete.

Step 4: Force HTTPS in WordPress

If you use WordPress, you can enforce HTTPS using a plugin or by updating the site URL to https and enabling redirects.

Notes

If SSL fails, it’s usually due to DNS not pointing to the server, domain not added to the account, or a propagation delay.
