How to Point Your Domain to Veerhost

Estimated reading: 2 minutes

To connect your domain to Veerhost, you need to update your DNS records to point to your Veerhost server IP. This method keeps your DNS managed at your current provider.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • Your Veerhost server IP address
  • Access to your domain’s DNS management (where your DNS zone is hosted)

Step 1: Get Your Veerhost Server IP

You can find your server IP in:

  • Your Veerhost hosting welcome email, or
  • cPanel (look for Server Information or the main sidebar details)

Step 2: Update DNS A Records

Log in to your DNS provider and edit these records:

  • A Record (root domain / @)
Point it to your Veerhost server IP.
  • A Record (www)
Point it to the same Veerhost server IP
(or set a CNAME for www to @ if your DNS provider supports it).

Step 3: Remove Conflicting Records

To avoid DNS conflicts, make sure you don’t have:

  • Another A record for @ pointing to a different IP
  • A www record pointing somewhere else
  • A redirect record that overrides the website destination

Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation

DNS changes usually apply within a few hours, but can take up to 24–48 hours depending on DNS caching.

Step 5: Verify the Domain is Pointing Correctly

Once propagation is done:

  • Visiting your domain should load your Veerhost website
  • You can also check your DNS provider to confirm the A records match your Veerhost IP

Notes

If your website still loads the old host after updating DNS, clear your browser cache and test using mobile data or an incognito window.
