How to Transfer a Domain to Veerhost

Estimated reading: 2 minutes

Transferring your domain to Veerhost moves the domain registration to us so you can manage everything in one place. This guide walks you through the full process.

Before You Start

  • Your domain must be at least 60 days old and not recently transferred (ICANN policy)
  • The domain must be unlocked at your current registrar
  • You need the EPP/Authorization code (also called transfer key or auth code) from your current registrar
  • Make sure WHOIS privacy is temporarily disabled so the transfer confirmation email reaches you

Step 1: Unlock the Domain at Your Current Registrar

Log in to your current registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) and find the domain lock setting. It’s usually under Domain Settings → Transfer Lock. Disable it.

Step 2: Get the EPP / Auth Code

In your current registrar’s control panel, find the option to Get Auth Code or Transfer Key. It will be emailed to the domain’s registrant email address. Copy this code.

Step 3: Initiate the Transfer at Veerhost

  • Go to veerhost.com/domain-names
  • Click Transfer Domain and enter your domain name
  • Enter the EPP/auth code when prompted
  • Complete the order and pay the transfer fee (this renews the domain for 1 year)

Step 4: Approve the Transfer

You’ll receive a transfer confirmation email at your domain’s registrant address. Click Approve to speed up the transfer. Without approval, the transfer completes automatically after 5 days.

Step 5: Wait for Completion

Domain transfers typically complete within 24–72 hours after approval. You’ll receive a confirmation email from Veerhost once the domain is in your account. Your website and email will continue working normally during the transfer.

Important Notes

  • DNS settings are not transferred — you’ll need to re-add your DNS records at Veerhost after the transfer
  • If your website is hosted at Veerhost already, your DNS will continue pointing to the correct server
  • Transfer failures are usually caused by a locked domain, expired auth code, or WHOIS privacy blocking the confirmation email
