VeerHost vs SiteGround (2026): Which Host Is Better?

Last updated: 17 October 2026. Prices and features were checked on both companies’ own pricing pages that day. SiteGround prices exclude VAT.
Key takeaways
- First-year price is close, and SiteGround is sometimes lower. On a 12-month term VeerStart is $3.89 a month. SiteGround StartUp is $3.99 a month on one of its pages and $2.99 during a limited-time offer on another.
- The gap opens at renewal. SiteGround’s own pricing page lists StartUp renewing at $17.99 a month, GrowBig at $29.99 and GoGeek at $44.99. VeerHost shows the renewal price on each plan card, and it matches the term price.
- Three-year cost of an entry plan: about $140 on VeerHost against about $480 on SiteGround, if both stay at the listed prices.
- Where SiteGround wins: unlimited websites on GrowBig and GoGeek, staging, Git and developer tools on GoGeek, and an AI agent focused on WordPress.
- Where VeerHost wins: much lower renewal prices, 20 GB of NVMe on the entry plan (SiteGround StartUp has 10 GB), and the VeerAI agent included on every plan.
Short answer: for one to ten sites, VeerHost is the better value, because the first invoice is about the same and every renewal after that is far cheaper. SiteGround is the stronger choice if you need unlimited websites, staging and Git on one plan.
VeerHost is a web hosting provider that sells shared web hosting, WordPress hosting, WooCommerce hosting, VPS hosting, n8n hosting and OpenClaw hosting. SiteGround is an established hosting company that says it is trusted by the owners of 3 million domains. This guide compares them on price, plans, features, support, AI tools and migration.

How we compared the two hosts
We compared published plans, not marketing claims. Every price, limit and feature in this article comes from one of these pages:
- SiteGround’s web hosting page, which lists StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek with 12-month prices and renewal prices (excluding VAT)
- VeerHost’s web hosting and WordPress hosting pages and the pricing page
SiteGround quotes its prices for a 12-month prepaid term, so we compare them with VeerHost’s 12-month prices. VeerHost wrote this article, so we have tried to give SiteGround credit wherever it is ahead, and we show the numbers so you can check them. We did not run speed tests for this comparison, so we make no claim about which host loads faster. Prices change, so check the live pages before you buy.
Is VeerHost cheaper than SiteGround?
On the first invoice the two are close. After that, VeerHost is far cheaper. All prices below are per month on a 12-month term.
| Tier | VeerHost (12 months) | SiteGround (12 months, ex. VAT) |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | VeerStart: $3.89, 1 site, 20 GB NVMe | StartUp: $3.99, 1 site, 10 GB |
| Middle | VeerGrow: $4.89, 5 sites, 30 GB NVMe | GrowBig: $6.69, unlimited sites, 50 GB |
| Top | VeerScale: $9.89, 10 sites, 50 GB NVMe | GoGeek: $10.69, unlimited sites, 100 GB |
| Price after the first term | Same as the plan card shows | StartUp $17.99, GrowBig $29.99, GoGeek $44.99 |
The cost of the first 12 months:
| Tier | VeerHost | SiteGround |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | $46.68 | $47.88 |
| Middle | $58.68 | $80.28 |
| Top | $118.68 | $128.28 |
SiteGround also shows promotional prices that change. On 17 October its main hosting page (www.siteground.com) listed $2.99, $4.99 and $7.99 a month for a limited-time offer, against $3.99, $6.69 and $10.69 on another page. At the lower prices SiteGround’s first year costs $35.88, $59.88 and $95.88, which is less than VeerHost’s first year. The renewal prices are the same either way, so the three-year totals below change only a little: $467.64, $779.64 and $1,175.64 for SiteGround against $140.04, $176.04 and $356.04 for VeerHost.
What three years cost
Most sites stay put for years, so the renewal price decides the real cost. This table assumes both hosts keep today’s listed prices: 12 months at the intro price, then two years at the renewal price.
| Tier | VeerHost, 36 months | SiteGround, 36 months | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | $140.04 | $479.64 | $339.60 |
| Middle | $176.04 | $800.04 | $624.00 |
| Top | $356.04 | $1,208.04 | $852.00 |
The tiers are not identical. GrowBig and GoGeek allow unlimited sites, while VeerGrow and VeerScale cover 5 and 10. If you really use that capacity, SiteGround’s price buys you something. If you run two or three sites, you pay for room you do not use.
VeerHost also sells 1, 6, 24 and 36-month terms. The 36-month prices start at $2.89 a month. See the full grid on the pricing page, or read how much does web hosting cost for a wider look at what you should expect to pay.
How much does SiteGround cost after the first year?
According to SiteGround’s own pricing page, StartUp renews at $17.99 a month ($215.88 a year), GrowBig at $29.99 ($359.88 a year) and GoGeek at $44.99 ($539.88 a year), all excluding VAT. Its pricing page advertises savings of up to 77% on the first term, which is why the first-year price looks so low.
The introductory discount is a normal industry practice, and it is not hidden. Still, it changes the maths: a host that is equal on day one can cost three times as much by year three. VeerHost’s plan cards show a renewal price that matches the term price. If you ever see a different renewal price at checkout, trust the checkout.

Performance and uptime
VeerHost runs on NVMe storage with caching built in, and SiteGround advertises multilevel caching. We did not run a head-to-head speed test, so we will not claim that one is faster. Speed depends on your theme, plugins, caching, page weight and the distance between your visitors and the server. VeerHost hosts in US data centres, so a CDN is worth adding if most of your visitors are elsewhere. Read what a CDN is and why good hosting helps your SEO.
How to test either host yourself in 30 days
Both hosts give you 30 days to get your money back. Use that time to measure:
- Move a copy of your site to the new host, or build a test site on it.
- Run VeerHost’s free website speed test from a few locations and note the loading time.
- Check the Core Web Vitals described on web.dev, mainly Largest Contentful Paint and Time to First Byte.
- Repeat the test at different times of day, including your busiest hours.
- Compare the numbers against your current host before you switch DNS.
AI tools: two different approaches
SiteGround now includes an AI Agent for WordPress that lets you manage WordPress and WooCommerce sites by chatting. Its page says it is included in the hosting plans for WordPress, and it focuses on the website itself. SiteGround also lists a website builder with AI text and image tools.
VeerAI sits one level higher, in your VeerHost customer dashboard, and helps with your hosting account. It can check your account, look at DNS records, help with domains and email, and restart a service. It works with read-only access by default and asks for your approval before it changes anything. VeerAI is included on every VeerHost plan, including VPS.
WordPress hosting compared
Both hosts run WordPress well. WordPress itself publishes the server requirements that any good host meets. VeerHost’s WordPress plans (VeerLaunch, VeerBoost and VeerMax) include NVMe storage, caching, curated plugins, free migration, WP-CLI and SSH access, and VeerAI. SiteGround adds managed auto-updates and its own WordPress tools.
If you are setting up a new site, read how to install WordPress on cPanel, then how to speed up a WordPress website and how to secure a WordPress website. Do not forget backups: how to back up your WordPress site shows how.
Agencies, freelancers and developers
This is where SiteGround is strongest. Its GoGeek plan includes unlimited sites, staging with Git, private DNS, white-label access and priority support, which suit agencies that manage client sites. If you need that, SiteGround GoGeek is a good fit, and you should price it at $44.99 a month after the first term.
VeerHost suits freelancers and small agencies that manage a handful of sites, and developers who want a server of their own. VeerHost’s VPS hosting starts at $4.99 a month with root access, and our guides on securing a VPS and getting started with your VPS help you set it up. Shared hosting vs VPS explains when to switch.
Moving from SiteGround to VeerHost
VeerHost migrates your site for free on every plan. A safe move looks like this:
- Choose a VeerHost plan and ask for a free migration, or follow the migration guide to do it yourself.
- Keep your SiteGround account active until the move is finished.
- Test the copy on VeerHost before you change any DNS records.
- Lower your DNS TTL a day before the switch so changes spread quickly.
- Point your domain to VeerHost. Our guides explain how to point your domain and how to edit DNS records. DNS changes take time, as DNS propagation explained describes.
- Check your email, forms and checkout, then cancel SiteGround after you are sure everything works.
For WordPress sites, use how to migrate a WordPress site to VeerHost and the website migration checklist. If your domain is registered with SiteGround, you can keep it there or transfer it later.
Which host is best for you?

- An agency with dozens of client sites: SiteGround GoGeek, if you need unlimited sites, staging and Git and accept the renewal price.
- A WordPress user who wants an AI agent for the site itself: SiteGround’s AI Agent for WordPress.
- Someone who wants help with DNS, domains and email in the dashboard: VeerHost with VeerAI.
- A developer who wants root access: VeerHost VPS.
Glossary
- Renewal price: what you pay per month when the introductory term ends.

- Staging site: a private copy of your site where you can test changes before they go live.
- Git: a version control system developers use to track and deploy code changes.
- Private DNS: custom name servers that carry your own brand.
- TTL: how long DNS records are cached, which controls how fast a DNS change spreads.
The bottom line
On the first invoice, the two hosts are close. Over several years, VeerHost costs far less for small and medium sites. SiteGround earns its price when you use unlimited sites and the developer tools.
